Forgotten Sea Child

there once was a child who swam in orchids
but their scent was long lost
drowning in an ocean of sadness
to time's cruelest boss

to be ignored
and never noticed
the boy was in vicious reverie
for a fairy tale he never knew
in a motionless ship at sea

but one did watch
perched on an island
and every day he wept
because he too
was under rug swept

he wanted to rescue this child
he wanted him to be free
but the storms between them were a hindrance
to all that could be

so the islander trained and struggled
to learn the ways of nature
so to tame the storms
and be of good stature
drew his shield and sword
and built a ship of iron

this was war
and this battle was to be fought
not for money or greed
but for the heart

Once I saw a melting star
like wax on colored paper
the stain was a bitter scar
but the mark it left was safer

The Apple Tree of Ages

there once was a child who wanted the apple at the top of the tree, he said to himself.. when i get older i can get that apple... ill wait and see

he got older and still couldnt reach it and said to himself i will wait... and someday ill have that apple in the tree.

years progressed and the child kept growing.. soon he was a man and he looked upon the tree and no longer did he want the apple the need was gone to reach the top of the tree.

he looked on as if a child full of life imagining how he would have  jumped and climbed and fought the branches of that tree...  got to the top and grabbed the apple of the tree.

and tho he smiled in silent regret he thought to himself... if only i had the guts.. to climb that tree.
