Once I saw a melting star
like wax on colored paper
the stain was a bitter scar
but the mark it left was safer

Its loathsome in its flavor
but sweet to the taste
a gilded tempting luxury
a forlorn estate

if love could be as futile
as emphatic as this state
man would know not blood

swimming in the cold water

the leftover meat
